What Do You Know About Real Estate?
One of the questions I like to ask my clients is:
“What do you know about it?”
What do you understand about the home-buying process?
What do you know about the neighbourhoods you’re considering?
What do you know about financing, inspections, conditions, negotiations and closing costs?
And perhaps most importantly:
What do you know about yourself as a buyer?
Buying a home is a big decision, and everyone comes into the process with a different level of experience. Some people have bought multiple homes. Others are purchasing their first home and aren’t sure where to begin.
There is nothing wrong with not knowing.
That’s where having the right Realtor can add value.
My job isn’t simply to show you homes and write an offer. It’s to help you understand the process, explain your options and make sure you have the information you need to make your own decisions.
Sometimes that means explaining what a condition in an offer actually means. Sometimes it means talking through the pros and cons of a neighbourhood. It could mean looking at whether a property makes sense as an investment or helping you understand what your current home could be worth before you make your next move.
After more than 20 years in Grande Prairie real estate, I’ve learned that good questions lead to better decisions.
So before we start looking at houses, I want to understand you.
What are you trying to accomplish?
What matters most to you?
What are you comfortable with?
What don’t you understand yet?
And what questions haven’t you thought to ask?
You don’t need to know everything about real estate before you buy a home.
You just need someone willing to help you understand it.
If you’re thinking about buying, selling or investing in real estate, I’m always happy to have a conversation—even if you’re not ready to make a move today.
